When to replace filter cartridges
Purpose of filtration In general, using your own filtration systems reduces dependence on commercially sold water. They are economical and cost-effective. You can have water which is safe for drinking when you want it and saves you the hassle of carrying heavy bottles from the supermarket to your home. Pitchers and dispensers However, filters which play an essential role in removing unwanted and unsafe particles from the water, need to be replaced at certain periods. As a guide, there is a red indicator on top of the filter that moves clockwise. If it completes its life cycle or when the dot reaches the end, then it is time to replace the pitcher and dispenser filters. This happens between one to two months. During this period, approximately 40 gallons of water are purified. Mounted faucets For Pur mounted faucets, filter replacement is done every two to three months. Its life period will purify about 100 gallons of water. Filters for counter-top and under-sink models are to be changed every four to six months (up to 200 gallons of water).
