A guide to applying eye shadow
Makeup application can be a challenging task for many people, especially when it comes to applying eye shadow to the eyes. However, once a person has learned how to apply eye shadow correctly, the results will be simply amazing. This article will serve as a guide to eye makeup application. Therefore, continue reading to learn how to apply eye shadow.
Prepare the eyes
The first step to applying eye shadow makeup is to prepare the eye area for makeup application. This can be done in a couple of different ways. One of the more popular options is to dab a little bit of primer onto the eye area. However, makeup concealer or a liquid makeup foundation will also work just fine. Do not dab too much on, since only a little bit is needed. Prepping the eye area will help keep the eye shadow on the eyes, and it will also avoid unnecessary creasing from happening.
Apply the makeup
Once the eye area has been prepped, use an eyeliner to line the eyes. Take some time to smudge the eyeliner makeup in order to avoid having a harsh prominent makeup line. Once that has been done, it is time to start applying the three different eye shadow colours to the eyes. How to do? The first colour to be applied is the base colour. Use a light eye shadow colour for the base colour, and apply it to the whole eye area, stopping at the brow line. Then, apply a darker eye shadow colour to the eyelid only. Finally, use the darkest eye shadow colour on the crease area. Make sure to blend the three colours well. Do not allow for any obvious lines. Besides, look in the mirror to confirm that both eyes look the same. Then finish the look by curling the eyelashes and applying some mascara.
Keep these tips in mind
For a nice casual daytime look, stick to lighter eye shadow colours that are more neutral in appearance. Save the darker and more dramatic colours for the nighttime or special occasions. However, do keep in mind that sparkly eye shadow colours will highlight any existing wrinkles on the eye area. In addition, do remember the golden rule of makeup application: Go light on the lip makeup when using vibrant colours on the eyes.
