A recipe for beef brisket

Beef brisket is a classic hearty recipe, which is actually very simple to prepare. This article will show you how to make a beef brisket, which is sure to go down well with all your family.

Gather your ingredients

First, as with any recipe, you should make sure that you have all the ingredients you will need. For a classic beef brisket, get a 3 pound cooking brisket of beef. You will also need a clove of garlic, a little black pepper, 1/4 cup of flour and a 1 ounce pack of dry onion soup mix. Finally, choose whatever vegetables you will serve alongside the brisket, such as potatoes, carrots and Brussel sprouts.

Prepare the brisket

First, pre heat the oven to 275F (135C, gas mark 4), then you can move onto the real work of this brisket recipe. Coat the inside of a roasting bag with flour and place the brisket inside, sprinkle over crushed garlic, the dry onion soup mix and the black pepper and seal the roasting bag.
Make two holes in the roasting bag with a fork and place the brisket in the over to cook for around eight hours.

Prepare the vegetables

While the beef brisket is cooking, prepare the vegetables you will serve alongside it.
To make delicious roast potatoes, chop some potatoes into irregular shapes and par boil for around 10 minutes. Drain the potatoes, place them on a baking tray and drizzle with olive oil. Roast for around 45 minutes. Moreover, chop some carrots and boil along with some Brussel sprouts. These should be cooked for around 5 - 10 minutes.

Plate up

Once the vegetable and roast brisket are cooked, it is time to plate up.
Drain the carrots and Brussel sprouts and divide evenly on the plates. Next, remove the potatoes from the oven and drain any excess oil. You may want to serve these on a platter, so people can choose how many the want. Alternatively, place them directly on the plates. Finally, open the roasting bag and slice the brisket into generous servings and put on the plates.
