Founded in 1966 in the southern California city of Cypress, Cypress Community College (CCC), also known as Cypress College (CC), is a two-year institution of higher learning. Today, the over 14,000 student body school is highly ethnically diverse, with 67% of its students originating from an ethnic minority.

Academics

Accreditation The school gets its accreditation from Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
Academic choices Cypress College gives its students a variety of educational choices with 61 academic departments. They offer over 50 associate degrees, almost 60 majors that transfer to four-year institutions and over 140 vocational programmes and certificates. Students who, because of other responsibilities, are not able to attend traditional classes, are invited to enrol in online course through the
distance-learning programme. Special programmes CCC gives students a chance to enrich their college experience through special programmes that have been developed. The school offers students the choice to be involved in a learning community. This is a group of people who help with studying and academic issues. In addition to this, the college has partnered with Fullerton College, to provide opportunities for students to spend a semester studying abroad. Students can join the Honours or Service Learning Communities as well.

Student services

Health centre All students enrolled at Cypress Community college are required to buy into the Health Care Programme provided by the school. Costs for the programme and the fees are charged to the student account, whether or not, the students already has health insurance. Students can be immunised for Hepatitis B and Tetanus at the health centre.
In addition to this, the health centre provides basic family planning services, health screenings and laboratory tests. Students can make an appointment at the centre to be tested for pregnancy and STDs. Transfer centre Students, who plan to transfer to a four year college after two years at Cypress, will want to make use of the advisors and resources found in the transfer centre. Established to make the transfer from a Community College to a four-year institution easier, the centre provides information and field trips for students.
