All about: Randy Rogers band

The Randy Rogers Band are an American country music group from the state of Texas. Fronted by Randy Rogers, a native of Cleburne, Texas, their most recent album was 'Burning the Day', while 'Tonight's Not the Night (For Goodbye) remains their most successful single out of the six which have charted on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

History

Overview
Randy Rogers learned to play the piano as a child at the age of six.
Later, he also learned the guitar, and formed the Randy Rogers band in the year 2000.
By 2002, they had secured a record deal with an independent record label, Downtime. The focus of the band's early activities had been the town of San Marcos, Texas, with debut album 'Live at Cheetham Street Warehouse' recorded at a venue there. the band followed that up with an album for Downtime entitled 'Like It Used To Be'. With their fan base steadily spreading, the band began to perform outside of San Marcos, and the album 'Rollercoaster' was released in 2004.
Rogers also enjoyed some songwriting success away from the band before their major label debut 'Just A Matter of Time' was released in 2006 on Mercury, and the band followed it up for the label in 2008 with an eponymous long player. 'Burning the Day', the band's most recent albium release, came out in 2010 on MCA Nashville.
Two singles from the album reached the top 60 of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, the band's highest position since 2006, when 'Kiss Me in the Dark' peaked at number 45. Countryweekly.com reviewed the album positively, summing it up with "frank and poetic lyrics gliding easily over a rock-tinged country foundation."

Line-Up and sound

Sound and other features
The band has a mainstream, commercial country sound, sentimental and richly produced, with a solid chunk of rock influence.
The waling fiddle of Brady Black though adds a touch of texture and soul to the songs though. The rest of the band are Geoffrey Hill, who plays guitar, Jon Richardson on bass and drummer Les Lawless. Rogers himself sings and plays guitar.
Final word
Randy Rogers has also co-written songs recorded by other artists.
One of these is 'Somebody Take Me Home', which Kenny Chesney included on his 2005 album 'The Road and the Radio'.
