How to make chocolate chip oatmeal cookies?

Cookies are always a favourite snack or treat at any time. Here is a recipe that is so easy that everybody will find the recipes easily achievable. To make these cookies, just follow the steps below and you could be enjoying your own home-made cookies in just a few minutes.

Equipment and ingredients needed

Equipment required
-2 large mixing bowls
-Electric mixer (it can be mixed by hand but it is much easier with the aid of an electric mixer)
-Spoon
-Baking sheet
-Greaseproof/parchment paper
-Dessert spoon (US tablespoon)
-Cooling rack
-Airtight container (optional)
-Ingredients needed to make your cookies
-150g of softened butter
-250g of brown sugar
-1 egg
-2 teaspoons (10ml) of vanilla extract
-375g of large flake rolled oats
-250g of flour (plain or all purpose)
-1 teaspoon (5ml) of baking powder
-Pinch of salt
-375g of chocolate chips

How to make your cookies

Step one
Preheat your oven to 190 degrees C (375 degrees F), line your baking sheet with greaseproof/parchment paper. Step two
Mix the sugar and butter until smooth and until all the sugar is absorbed into the mixture. Slowly add the eggs and vanilla extract. Step three
Stir together the rolled oats, flour, baking powder and salt into your second mixing bowl until all is evenly combined.
Using the spoon, add this to the butter and sugar mixture until everything is perfectly mixed. Finally, stir in your chocolate chips. How to assemble your cookies on the baking sheet?
The next stage is to drop a heaped dessert spoonful (US tablespoon) of each mixture onto the lined baking sheet.
Each sheet should be around 5cm or 2 inches apart. If you are using two baking sheets, place them at the top and bottom thirds of the oven.
It is important to switch positions midway through cooking (6 minutes).
Remove the sheets from the oven as soon as the chocolate oatmeal cookies turn golden. This should take around 12 minutes.
Final stages
Allow to rest for a minute or two before removing to a cooling rack.
This oatmeal cookies recipe should make 36 cookies. If you wish to save the cookies for later, store them in an airtight container.
This recipe is also suitable for freezing.

For a tasty alternative, you could try adding some peanut butter along with the chocolate chips to make peanut butter oatmeal cookies.
