The album review of Young Jeezy's Thug Motivation 103
Rapper Young Jeezy has been one of Hip Hop music’s dominant voices over the last decade as an independent performer as well as a recording artist. This article gives a preview of his upcoming album Thug motivation 103: Hustlerz Ambition that is set for release on 20th September 2011.
Trilogy
Thug motivation 103 is the forthcoming album by rap star Young Jeezy that follows his 2009 effort The Recession. The rapper announced the release date for his fourth studio album in May 2011 after working on the project for almost two years. The opus falls under Jeezy’s Corporate Thugz Entertainment that is a subsidiary of Def Jam records. The album follows his Thug Motivation series that began with the first Lets Get It: Thug Motivation 101 in 2005 and The Inspiration: Thug Motivation 102 in 2006. More time in preparing the album The new Young Jeezy album took more time to prepare than his previous efforts due to scheduling conflicts, record company hold-ups and a shift in the music industry that has seen most rappers who release albums registering poor sales and low concert attendance.
Album structure
To promote the album, Jeezy has released a number of singles and videos that will constitute the album. The first single Jeezy released was Lose My Mind issued in March 2010 featuring rapper Plies. The single did so well that the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences nominated it for a Grammy at the 53rd Awards.
Singles
The following single was All White Everything with rapper Yo Gotti on July 2010, followed by Jizzle with Lil Jon in August 2010. Both performed well in the Hip Hop music charts at the time. More recently, Young Jeezy teamed up with rap superstar Lil Wayne to release Ballin in May 2011. This particular single did well in the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at position 57 and the video came out in July 2011. Finally, Jeezy revealed in late July that the album's first official single was Shake Life produced by Lil' Lody. The song entered the charts at position 76 and continues to rise.
Project information
Like previous Young jeezy albums, the entertainer used a team of producers as opposed to a single individual or group. Those people who are said to be involved in the project include rap legend Pete Rock, super-producer and rapper Kanye West, Drumma Boy, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Boi-1da, Lex Luger, Shawty Redd, Jim Jonsin and Alex da Kid. Performers rumoured to feature on the project include Freddie Gibbs, Tity Boi, Tyga, Wiz Khalifa, Yo Gotti, Game, Drake, 8Ball & MJG, Lloyd, Ludacris, Playboy Tre, Kanye West, Plies, Z-Ro, Chris Brown, Big K.R.I.T., Jay-Z, Keri Hilson and T.I.
