Boston, Massachusetts is largely regarded as a highly cultured city. Much of this is supported by the prestigious intellectual scene that the city has, with over 50 higher education institutions including world leaders Harvard and MIT. This article details where to attend Boston concerts.

The Theatre District and Boston Opera House

The Theatre District Such is the predominance of the cultural scene in Boston that it even has a district named after part of it.
This area, located just South of Boston common in central Boston, hosts not only Boston theatre shows, but also opera and a variety of other arts.
Boston Opera House One of the foremost places to see upcoming concerts in Boston is the grandiose Boston Opera House.
This is performing arts venue located at 538 Washington St. was originally built as the B.F. Keith Memorial Theatre movie palace in 1928, but rededicated in 1980 as a home for the Opera Company of Boston. In 2004, it underwent a complete restoration and now serves as the home for the Boston Ballet and touring Broadway shows. Upcoming shows includes the ballets Night of Stars, Romeo and Juliet and Don Quixote

The Cutler Majestic Theatre

Another eminent place to see Boston art is the Cutler Majestic Theatre.
This Boston theatre was one of three commissioned by Eber Dyer Jordan – son of wealthy retail Boston businessman Jordan Marsh - to primarily showcase mainstream theatre. Around 20 years after its 1903 opening, the theatre started to accommodate vaudeville shows – variety shows including acrobatics, comedians, sketches, fire-breathers, animal acts, escapologists and such like. Recent History In the 1950’s, the theatre converted to a movie house.
In the mid 1980’s, Emerson College purchased the theatre and restored its original architecture and purpose, now playing host to works from Emerson College, Opera Boston, New England Conservatory and the Celebrity Series of Boston.

Pop concerts

Pop concerts Two of the best places to see more commercial concerts in Boston are the TD Garden and Orpheum Theatre, both of which play host to many pop concerts.
The former is actually primarily a sports arena, but has staged huge shows from U2 and Fleetwood Mac and recent shows from Rihanna, Britney Spears and Sade. The latter is a historic music venue which has hosted greats such as U2, Bob Dylan and The Police.
It now tends to host more alternative acts such as Explosions in the Sky.
