The recliner chair is not a new concept. The first recliner chairs were in the 1780s in the form of a easy chair/daybed combination. Even Napoleon had a steel version that he took on campaign. If you are not handy, then the condition of the upholstery is a concern as well. If you are handy, then you could reupholster the chair or cover it with a decorative cover. If cared for, these chairs can serve you a long time, and may even be passed on to other users. Check to see if dealers in the area can be a resource in case the motor needs to be services or replaced.
