The University of Southern California has a very large School of Cinematic Arts, from where many successful and award winning film makers have graduated. The University of Southern California offers major undergraduate degrees in seventeen different schools centered on liberal arts. USC film school is one of these, and is among the several which are recognised as the top quality schools in similar subjects in the United States. Famous graduates of the USC Film School Film directors John Carpenter, George Lucas and Bryan Singer head a long list of graduates on the Cinema. Writers Writers include Bryan Fuller, David Weiss and Tim Kring, notably involved in Heroes and Shrek 2. Producers Producers Chris Black (Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty), Lori Forte (Ice Age movie series) and Don Murphy (Transformers, Natural Born Killers) have also graduated from the USC film school. USC School of Cinematic Arts

The University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts describes itself as "the best cinematic arts school in the world" on its website, Cinema.usc.edu. The full spectrum of theoretical and production studies are offered. Theory is informed by practice and vice versa at this school, where film, television and animation are courses on offer, alongside with writing for the big screen. Dedicated facilities The University of Southern California New School of Cinematic Arts is situated in an award-winning group of buildings at the West 34th Street, Los Angeles. The Steven Spielberg music scoring stage There is a dedicated sound facility for student use renamed in honour of Harry Potter film score composer, John Williams, in April 2011. The USC Robert Zemeckis Center for Digital Arts is on the South Figueroa Street, Los Angeles.

The USC School of Cinematic Arts does not have a separate admissions procedure, but it does charge a specific film school non-refundable deposit of either $300 or $500 payable upon acceptance. Deadline dates Deadline dates for the 2012 first-year applicants are 01 December 2011 for scholarship consideration, 10 January 2012 for other first-year applications, 01 February 2012 for transfer applications, including scholarship applications.
