How to make a zebra-print shower curtain?

The love of animal-print fabric dates back to primitive mankind when animal skins were used as clothing. As time went on, animal skins were used by the kings as a form of power. During the 1960s, animal-print fabric became popular when used with clothing and other accessories such as curtains and more. With some zebra-print fabric, you can make your own animal-print shower curtains or a zebra-print shower curtain. This article explains how to make zebra-print shower curtains.

Prepare

Measure the opening of the shower enclosure. Standard measurements are often 72 inches by 72 inches. However, as this might vary, it's good to take the measurement to be sure. Measure down how far you wish the curtain to hang. Buy a length of 54-inch wide zebra-print fabric, thread, a vinyl shower liner and 12 shower curtain hooks.

Prepare the fabric

The next step in making a zebra-print shower curtain is to cut the fabric. Fold the fabric in half and cut it down the middle. Then, cut the remaining piece in half as well.

Assembly

- Sew the panels together with the larger panel in the middle and the two narrower ones on either side. -Press the seams open with an iron. - Measure the curtain and cut as necessary for length. You may find that the length is not correct after sewing the panels together. - Use a yard stick and a pencil to draw a straight even line and cut along the line with sharp scissors. - Hem the animal-print curtain by sewing along the top and bottom first, then hemming the sides. - Cut strips of cloth from the salvage that are four inches long. You will need to have 24 strips. - Measure in three inches from the top edge of the curtain and make a mark on the back of the curtain. Do the same with the other end. Make ten more marks on the back top of the curtain, spaced three inches apart. - Sew the tabs to the marks that you drew on the back of the curtain. - Put the shower hooks through the vinyl liner and install it on the shower rod. - Tie your shower curtain in place, trying to hang it as evenly as possible.
