Pros
There are plenty of advantages to a Walt Disney World vacation. Firstly, hotels on property at Walt Disney World are minutes away from the four Disney theme parks, two water parks and Downtown Disney, a major entertainment area within Walt Disney World Resort. Guests staying at a Disney hotels can also have access to the Walt Disney World transportation system, which provides free shuttle buses from all Walt Disney World hotels to the all the major attractions within the resort, including Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom. Guests staying on-site at Walt Disney World may also benefit from one of the many Disney package deals ran throughout the year. One of the most notable deals which Disney runs at select times is a free dining plan - giving guests a set amount of meals per day at Disney restaurants - when a package of over five days is booked. Those who opt to stay on-site at Walt Disney World can also take advantage of Disney's Magical Express, which provides free transportation from Orlando International Airport to all of the hotels situated within Walt Disney World Resort.
Cons
Despite Walt Disney World being one of the world’s most popular tourism destinations there are downsides to taking a vacation at the Central Florida resort - most notably the price. Walt Disney World packages are one of the more expensive forms of Orlando vacations, with guests paying a premium for being close to the parks and the high level of customer service which is associated with Disney Parks and Resorts. Indeed, it can be much more affordable for visitors to try alternative Orlando packages - such as hotels on International Drive - as these can be much more affordable and still allow for visits to Walt Disney World. Another disadvantage of a Walt Disney World vacation is that is that when staying at a Disney hotel it is hard to visit other locations outside of Walt Disney World Resort. There is no public transportation from inside Walt Disney World to places such as Universal Orlando, Sea World or Busch Gardens, meaning if guests want to visit these places they will have to either hire a private shuttle, take a taxi or rent-a-car, which can be expensive.
