What is a timeshare and how do I buy one?

You may have heard about time sharing and wondered what it is and how you can get in on it. Fortunately, it is easy to learn how to own your own timeshare and even learn how to buy a timeshare. Finally, you can own your own piece of a property you can visit on holidays, vacations and whenever you please.

What exactly Is It?

When asking the question, "What is timeshare?," it is easily answered. A timeshare is a property that you own a piece of. You have certain times of the year when it is yours to visit, which means you basically have a home in another area where you can stay at during certain times of the year. For instance, you may have a timeshare in Cozumel and your weeks are during January. This means that each year in January, you have the option of staying at your condominium or home during this time. It is like your home away from home but only a couple of weeks a year or longer if you have purchased more time. There are other options such as biennial, club, fixed week, floating week, points and more.

How do I buy one?

RCI International is the world's largest timeshare exchange. What this means is that you can purchase your own timeshare and trade with others for their weeks so that you get to travel the world and are not limited to one specific place. This is an RCI exchange and it is similar to a vacation club. There are RCI vacations all over the world such as RCI Europe and RCI UK. Your choices are pretty much limited to your imagination. You can simply visit their site if you already own a timeshare or if you are a first-time buyer, you would find an area you are interested in and then choose a resort that you like. Once you have all of this researched, you can look at resale options through other owners. Many times, you can simply do a search for the area you are interested in such as "timeshare sales in Orlando" to find listings. No matter where you want to spend your holidays, you can usually find a timeshare unit in this area.
