Who are paralegals?

ILEX paralegal training was established in mid 20th century by the law society of England for this purpose. It has been renowned for the excellent training of paralegals, law executives and legal secretaries. Paralegal training Basic foundation Studying to become a paralegal in ILEX does not require former study of law. To start the legal career as a paralegal, ILEX has a level I award of either diploma or certificate in legal studies. This is the first basic foundation course that a paralegal trainee gets at ILEX. Their tests are accredited by city and guilds. A-level qualifications Trainees may also choose to start with ILEX level III paralegal certificate in law practice. This equips the trainees with advanced qualifications of law and legal practice. In this course, a trainee needs to choose five topics of their interest.

Advancing from paralegal to a legal executive lawyer

Both options above from ILEX allow a paralegal to pursue higher learning to become a legal executive lawyer. If a paralegal is interested in taking law as a career, ILEX trains paralegals to become practising lawyers. From the level III certificate in legal practice, a trainee can take a level III professional diploma in law practice. For paralegals who have already finished a degree in law, they may take ILEX Graduate Fast-Track Diploma to complete the legal training requirements.
