How effective is RoC eye cream
RoC eye cream combines powerful active ingredients like retinol, hyaluronic acid and biopeptides to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and make the eye contour look visibly younger. To find out more about the RoC Retin-Ox eye cream, keep on reading.
Overview
The product comes in a 15ml tube and has a gel-like texture. RoC cream tries to target the main causes of skin ageing, that is, the decrease in the production of collagen and elastin, and the slowdown of cell renewal. As a result, this cream can reduce wrinkles, dark circles and eye bags, and firm up the eye area.
How to apply the cream
You can try applying three dots of the RoC retinol eye cream at the corner of your eyes and use a tapping motion to massage it in gently. It would be a good idea to use your little finger to apply the cream. The eye area is very delicate and you should avoid putting too much pressure. The downside is that this product may cause tingling and redness, due to its retinol content. What is more is that you should avoid using the cream when you are going to be exposed to the sun. Retinol increases the skin’s sensitivity to light, which may deepen wrinkles instead of reducing them. So, use the cream at night and always wear a sunscreen during the day.
The main active ingredient in RoC eye cream
Retinol
Retinol is a widely used active ingredient in skin care products. There is a huge variety of retinol creams and retinol products on the market. Retinol is a form of vitamin A, which doesn’t actually have a direct biological effect on the skin. The various forms of vitamin A need to be converted into retinoic acid by the skin’s enzymes in order to have an effect.
Retinoic acid
Retinoic acid has numerous benefits. It increases cell growth and protein synthesis, inhibits the matrix metalloproteinases enzymes (MMP) that break down collagen and elastin, and reduces fine wrinkles and skin roughness. Retinoic acid is one of the very few substances with documented anti-ageing effects.
However, retinol and retinoic acid are not the same thing. A product needs to have a high concentration of retinol to be effective, but this unfortunately also increases the risk of irritation. The RoC eye cream seems to have an adequate concentration of retinol.
