Read this article to learn how to clean your computer, laptop or television LCD screen using the right method and products.

LCD screens

LCD screens are popular nowadays because they are less bulky and save space while at the same time they consume less electricity. However, they can get dusty and dirty, making it difficult to keep them clean with ordinary methods of cleaning. At the same time, they can be easily scratched, leaving unsightly streaks or damaged if the wrong methods or inappropriate products are used.

Ways to keep them clean

Wondering how to clean my computer? Screen cleaning can be accomplished by: Dry clean First, turn off the monitor because with a dark screen, it will be easier to see the areas that are dirty or oily. Using a dry, soft cloth such as a microfibre type of cloth used to clean eyeglasses, gently wipe the screen. Avoid scrubbing hard to prevent burning out the pixels which will damage the screen. Damp clean You can also use a damp cloth for cleaning a laptop screen. Special laptop cleaners or flat screen monitor cleaning products are sold in small spray bottles. You can also use a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water which is just as effective. Another solution you can also use is a mixture of distilled water with 50% isopropyl alcohol in equal amounts. Applying the solution Do not spray the liquid directly on the screen; instead, dampen the cloth with it and then apply on the monitor. Do not render the cloth wet, just damp enough to use for cleaning. Clean the screen with rapid circular strokes without using too much pressure. Precautions Do not use cleaning products that contain harmful products like ammonia, ethyl alcohol, acetone, toluene, ethyl acid or methyl chloride. These can damage the screen. Avoid using tap water which can leave mineral marks on the screen. Do not use wiping materials that can scratch the display such as sponges, tissue paper or paper towels. These can also leave unsightly lint which may be difficult to remove. References - Tech-faq.com - PCsupport.about.com
