How to make your computer faster

There is nothing more frustrating for a PC user than a slow computer. The good news is that there many things that you can do yourself right now in order to optimise your PC and to increase its speed. Take a look at the following tips on how to get a faster PC.

Add some RAM

Adding RAM is one of the fastest ways to speed up your PC. However, what is computer RAM? RAM stands for Random Access Memory and it is the temporary storage memory of the computer. Not having enough RAM will slow down the system’s performance, and may cause computer freezes. Procedures This is how to add RAM: First, you need to check if you actually need RAM. Press the keys Ctrl + Alt + Del to open the Task Manager. Then, click on the Performance tab to see the RAM resources. If your computer is low on RAM, then adding memory should improve the computer’s speed. However, before buying a RAM stick, you need to check your motherboard because it may be maxed out in the amount of RAM that it can support. If you indeed need RAM and your PC has room for additional RAM, then just adding a 1-gigabyte stick should be enough.

Delete temporary files

Every time that you load a website, your PC stores temporary files. These temporary files take up a lot of disk space and slow down your computer. To fix that, you can run Windows Disk Cleanup and delete all unused temporary files. Similarly, you can uninstall any application that you no longer need and clear out your browser's cache manually in order to get more disk space. You can also use a free application like CCleaner to automate the entire process.

Remove Autostart programs

Most computers contain many unnecessary programs that start automatically. The programs may run in the background without your knowledge, or they may show an icon on your taskbar. These applications use a lot of valuable memory and lead to a sluggish computer performance. To identify and delete these programs, click on Start - Run, type Msconfig and then, press Enter. On the Startup tab, you can locate all the programs that run when you load Windows. To delete these programs, clear the check box next to any application that you don't need and click on Apply. After that, you simply need to reboot your PC.
