Rapid yet delicious halibut recipes for one

Halibut steaks are quick to cook and can be easily transformed into tasty meals for one by adding just a few ingredients. There are a number of ways of cooking halibut and the guide below shows you how to accomplish some of these.

Barbequed halibut

Pan-seared halibut steak
This simple barbecue style dish takes just 10 minutes to prepare and only another 15 to cook.
Ingredients needed
30g butter
2 tablespoons dark brown soft sugar
2 cloves finely chopped garlic
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon soy sauce
Pinch black pepper
I halibut steak. Method
Place all ingredients except the fish into a small saucepan and heat gently until the sugar is dissolved.
Place a little oil into a pan and place onto a medium heat.
Brush the sauce over the halibut and begin cooking.
Turn regularly, applying more sauce at each rotation.
Once the fish begins to flake easily with a fork, it is cooked.

Grilled and oven baked

Parmesan cheese grilled halibut recipe Ingredients needed:
40g grated Parmesan cheese
50g softened butter
3 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons lemon juice
Small bunch of chopped spring onions
Salt to season
Dash of hot pepper sauce
1 halibut steak
Preheat your grill.
Grease a baking dish.
Combine all the ingredients together in a small mixing bowl, with the exception of the halibut.
Place the halibut onto the prepared baking dish and grill for 8 to 10 minutes.
Once cooked, it should flake easily with a fork.
Spread the cheese mixture over the top of the fish and then grill for a further two minutes or until a golden brown colour is achieved.
Oven baked halibut recipe
For this oven baked halibut recipe you will need:
1 halibut steak or fillet
80ml dry white wine
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 tablespoon lemon juice
½ teaspoon seafood or herb seasoning
1 clove finely chopped garlic
Salt and pepper for seasoning
1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley
Preheat oven to 230C or gas mark 8.
Place the halibut into the centre of an oven proof dish.
Combine all the other ingredients together except the parsley and pour over the halibut. Bake in the centre of the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until the halibut is white in colour and is flaky to the touch.
Sprinkle with the chopped parsley and serve.
