Dell MediaDirect is an application manufactured by CyberLink Corp and installed on new Dell computers. This application is used to view media files on your computer. It works similar to Windows Media Center. CyberLink Corp customised Dell MediaDirect to work with the Windows operating system and other programmes. It is user-friendly and allows the user more options when listening to media files.

Features

When using Dell Media Direct on your computer, you have a better way to view media files, such as music, videos and pictures, on your computer. It is used in the same as any television tuner or
stand alone radio. You can also access all of the features of the software by opening Dell MediaDirect on your computer.

Benefits

The benefit of using Dell Media Direct is that it holds all of your media files in one place on your computer. This allows you to better organise your files, and you can set up folders for them with labels or tags. This helps you to find the files quicker on your computer while searching.

Media

It also has media buttons which can be used to search through the files, play music, or adjust sound. You also have access to the Windows address book and calendar. You can also add a TV tuner with a remote control. These are extra features of MediaDirect that you can add only if you want. Note that they are not needed if you do not want to install them.

Install

When you first install Dell MediaDirect on your computer, the set-up wizard optimises the software to be used with your computer. For example, it adjusts the screen ration automatically, setting a standard or wide screen resolution, depending upon what type of monitor you have. There are also other features which let you create a theater type experience, adding sound effects and visual enhancements. Note that you can select how the monitor adjusts to the different video files for the best viewing. You can set it to letterbox or stretch format. Moreover, note that the resources on your computer can be drained with enhanced features, depending upon what type of computer you have.
