What to wear with an amber pendant

Amber is an "organic plastic [which] has the unique & singular ability to encompass and preserve the organic materials it encounters, like the the proverbial fly trapped in honey." Jewellery pieces made of amber found in the Baltic have been found which date back to 12,000 BC. Amber had been traded for many centuries and remains valued. Wearing amber continues today. Learn how to wear amber pendants to both its and your advantage.

The evening

Amber jewellery can work well for evening wear. The amber hue can be enhanced by layers of gold chains or necklaces with other gemstones or just by itself. A pendant made of amber that has a plain setting can be enhanced by a rose-coloured, well-cut dress that does not detract from the amber. Settings for the amber worn on formal occasions, should not detract from the beauty of the amber. Amber is unusual and striking enough. Hence, you should let it speak for itself.

Formal wear

For a formal occasion, a little pizzazz is in order. There are amber collars that recall the style of Cleopatra, amber necklaces consisting of ovals of amber string together, an amber pendant flanked by turquoise. There are also jade beads, gold settings with amber surrounded by small diamonds, amber and gold bracelets. Moreover, amber earrings can spell style and elegance. Wear a long, simply elegant gown that compliments the jewellery, but does not distract from it.

Fun and work

Amber pendants can be fun as well. Thread a leather lace through the loop and you have a stylish, yet casual necklace that can look well with worn jeans and a T-shirt or a summer dress. A little more formal jewellery may look better with khakis, but that is entirely up to you. Amber pendants look well with silver chains, cuff bracelets made of leather, and other jewellery made of sterling silver. More subdued amber jewellery can do the work, such as small pendants, small bangles, necklaces that you made by hand, or amber necklaces that feature geometric shapes. Choose simple and well fitting outfits to compliment the stones, making the jewellery and the garments work as a whole for a cohesive look. Amber can look formal, fun and in between.
