Where to find used guitars for sale

If you’ve just started playing the guitar, then you are going to be looking for a cheap good quality instrument. You can of course buy any cheap guitar but as you get better, you’re going to want a better quality one. So, why not buy a good one to begin with.

Online

Guitars dealers can be found in your local area by searching online. Most of these dealers will have used instruments that you can pick up cheaply. You might not find a used fender but if you’re lucky, you might find a deal on new guitars. A few music shops will advertise their stock online but you should really check out the stores in person. You’ll be able to test the quality and make sure that you are not buying anything that is damaged. Ebay is another place worth checking for guitars for sale, you should be wary though because you won’t be able to test the quality before you buy.

Music shops

Shopping in a music shop will give you a wider selection to choose from, and you might find some unique guitars. Guitar stockists not only sell guitars but they will be able to give you advice on the best type for the music that you want to perform. The stockists will also be able to supply any extra equipment that you need, like an amplifier for electric guitars. The advice and expertise that they can offer are also invaluable for the novice guitar player. Local stockists can be located via local newspapers and Yell.com, as well as other online telephone directories.

Buying from other guitarists

You can always buy guitars used from other guitarists looking to sell their old instruments. You can be relatively sure that they have been looked after well and may come with accessories that you haven’t thought about such as capos and carry cases. Other musicians may also be able to help if you are just starting out by selling things such as songbooks, tutorial DVDs and guides. So, this is not an avenue to be ignored, even if the guitars are more expensive in this way. Don’t dismiss sites such as Freegle either. Sometimes, you might find a good quality guitar on there that someone bought but then never learned to play.
