A biography of Kate Morgan (Author)

Kate Morgan is the American author of Coming Through With Grace, an Unusual Love Story. Published in 2003, it tells the true life story of the devastating collapse of her marriage due to her husband’s addiction and how she overcame it.

Wife of a sex addict

Kate Morgan was the wife of a sex addict but for 10 years she was completely unaware of her husband’s problems and deceit. She thought they had it all despite sometimes feeling frustrated and lonely. She quietened her doubts because outwardly they seemed like the perfect American couple. However, then her husband’s dark secret was revealed, shattering the illusion of their life together. She writes: "Then after ten-and-a-half years of marriage, my husband’s long-kept secret was revealed: he had been having numerous affairs during the length of our marriage. I was repulsed and heartbroken beyond what I thought I could bear. And I had to start looking at the reality of our marriage - it was far from thriving. In fact, it was probably the most troubled relationship of any I knew. In the subsequent weeks, we would learn through counselling that my husband was a sex addict, and had been for as long as I had known him."

A writer is born

The devastating news destroyed their marriage and Kate put pen to paper to help her deal with her feelings. She began to write and soon achieved recognition. As a first-time writer, Kate placed as a top-twenty finalist in the South west Writer's Annual Contest in May 2000 and her moving story was later featured in Neale Donald Walsch's magazine, Moments of Grace in 2002. Spurred on by her success and her need to share the story of how she dealt with another’s addiction and made a more fulfilling life for herself, Coming Through With Grace was published in 2003. Kate graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism in 1985 and an associate degree in nursing in 1990, both of which have helped shape her writing and understanding of addiction. She now counsels other people who have been in similar situations. She is currently writing her second book that details her history which ultimately led to choosing a sex addict husband. She lives in the north western United States with her new partner, their four teenage children, two cats and a dog.
