- To bind the core ingredients together, you have some options. - If you don't mind adding some natural sugar into the equation, then honey can be used and helps things to blend together easily. - If you're looking at things from a low sugar perspective, then consider using skimmed milk. - Add this a little at a time as too much will mean that your bars won't be able to set. - In addition to this, you may wish to add dried fruits and nuts. - When using honey, raisins work well. - For the low sugar, variety dried prunes will work better from the flavour perspective. - This should be mixed together into a thick paste and then, spread out onto a flat surface like a counter top or chopping block. - The mixture should be rolled out until it is about a centimetre tall and cut into an appropriate rectangular shape. - This should make around twelve snack size bars.

Storing and eating

These are cheap protein bars which anyone can make. Moreover, unlike other protein bar recipes, there is no need to pull out the baking trays. Leave this mixture in the refrigerator overnight and it should be harder. These are perfect as mid-morning or mid-afternoon snacks or as quick bites to have after you have done a strenuous workout. Make sure that the rest of your diet is given due consideration. So, you can achieve the nutritional balance which will supplement any exercise programme that you are following.
